Pastor Tom MacMillan

Rev. Dr. Thomas L. MacMillan has been the Pastor at John Knox Presbyterian Church since 2002. In addition to being our regular preacher, Tom also plays guitar (6 and 12 string) for worship on occasions. Tom is married to Rev. Jessie MacMillan, and together they raised their four adult boys who are out of town for schooling and work. Tom leads mission trips abroad every year and is inspired by the faith, humility and joy of people who have much less than we do.

Tom’s formal education includes: B.A. in Philosophy from Duquesne University, M.Div. and Ph.D. in Philosophy from Princeton University. He also is regularly “schooled” by our youth in both dodgeball and soccer.

Jeff Nichols
Jeff Nichols

Jeff Nichols, Business Director

Jeff Nichols came to John Knox Church in 2008 after a career in banking. In addition to being our Business Director, Jeff regularly contributes to the Tuesday Morning Men’s Breakfast from making coffee to browning bacon. Jeff is married to Cathy, who serves grieving families as a Celebrant with a local funeral home. Together Jeff and Cathy raised two wonderful adult sons who live out of state.

Jeff appreciates many simple things, like a bold cup of coffee, as evidenced by his annual purchase of the New Year’s Starbucks Mug. He serves and advises local organizations such as ProCop House and Open Table.

Justine Tinline
Justine Tinline

Justine Tinline, Director of Children's Ministry

Justine Tinline has served John Knox Church since 1999, but has been very involved with the congregation since she was a child. Justine works with children from age 3 – grade 6 and coordinates many aspects of the Christian Education Program. In addition to the weekly classes and programs, Justine is a leader of our annual Vacation Bible School, which brings over 100 children to our church for a week every summer. Justine is married to Carson, and together they have five children, four of which have graduated from high school and remain involved as volunteers with many of the programs at John Knox.

Geoffrey Peterson
Geoffrey Peterson

Geoffrey Peterson, Director of Music and the Arts

Geoffrey Peterson has been the Minister of Music and the Fine Arts at John Knox Presbyterian Church since 2013. As the son of two retired United Methodist pastors, Geoffrey brings a meaningful and creative spirit to music ministry. He is a talented instrumentalist, sharing his skills on the piano, organ and percussion. He leads the Chancel Choir and JK Band, and manages the John Knox Performance Series. In addition, he is a published composer and arranger whose music has been performed throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Geoffrey is married to Michelle, who shares her vocal talents in worship.

He attended both the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and received his Bachelor of Music degree in composition from the Cleveland Institute of Music.

Nancie Rachocki
Nancie Rachocki

Nancie Rachocki, Director of John Knox Preschool

Nancie Rachocki started leading John Knox Preschool in 1995. As a licensed educator, Nancie continues to serve as an innovative and thoughtful leader for the Preschool, as well as contributing to the children’s programs at the church.

Josh Schibley
Josh Schibley

Josh Schibley, Custodian

Josh Schibley started working for John Knox Church in 2018. He is a Junior at St. Edward High School. Josh plays Lacrosse for his High School and is very involved in the High School Youth Group at John Knox Church! He has been attending John Knox with his family since 2006. When he graduates from High School, Josh wants to become a Computer Engineer at the University of Cincinnati, Miami University, or The Ohio State University. Josh is very dedicated to his service and loves the work he can provide for his church. 

Thomas Oommen
Rev. Oommen K. Thomas

Rev. Oommen K. Thomas, Parish Associate

Oommen came to the USA from India in 1973 for graduate studies with a full scholarship from World Council of Churches. He received an MSW of  from the university of Pittsburgh and a MDiv from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He is also certified as a spiritual director from the Mercy Center for Healing the Whole Person (Colorado Springs, CO). Oommen has been in ministry for the last 55 years, 10 years in India and 45 years in the US.
 
He has been married to Leela for 52 years and has three adult children and four grandchildren. His main interest in life is spiritual growth through learning, teaching, preaching, counseling and service to others. His hobbies include international travelling, photography, reading and gardening. He believes it is in deep relationship with all of God’s children and creation that we know who we are and who God is.
Rev. Susanne Bendoraitis
Rev. Susanne Bendoraitis

Associate Pastor Susanne Bendoraitis

Rev. Susanne Bendoraitis has been the Associate Pastor at John Knox Presbyterian Church since 2011. Susanne’s position has a wide scope from oversight of children, youth and families, deacons and congregational care. This includes leading our Life Group program, weekend women’s retreats, supporting the Renewal movement at John Knox, and serving as a resource for Stephen Ministers among other things. Susanne is married to Dr. Kristian Bendoraitis, and together they are raising two boys who are growing too fast! Susanne leads the Youth Work Camp mission trip every year and is inspired by the faith, service and joy of the youth with whom she serves.

Susanne’s formal education includes: B.A. in Psychology from the University of Toledo and an M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary. Presently, she is completing an Masters of Positive Organizational Development from Case Western University.

Abigail Yates
Abigail Yates

Abigail Yates, Executive Assistant

Abigail Yates joined the staff of John Knox Church in 2015 after returning home to the Cleveland area from Pennsylvania. In addition to being our Executive Assistant, Abigail worships at a local Catholic parish. Abigail is married to Alex, who is a data scientist. Together they have two kids under age three, having recently welcomed their daughter in June 2018!

In their free time, the Yates family enjoys taking walks, spending time with family, and traveling to new places. Abigail is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Northcentral University, and is a marriage and family therapist trainee at OhioGuidestone.

Mindi Schibley
Mini Schibley

Mindi Schibley, Finance Manager

Mindi Schibley has served John Knox Church since 2013, but has been very involved with the congregation since her family joined in 2005. Mindi manages the financial life of John Knox Presbyterian Church. Mindi is married to Kris, and together they have two children; their oldest has graduated from high school and is attending Miami University of Ohio. Their youngest is in high school and serves as a part-time custodian at John Knox Church.

Bill Stewart
Bill Stewart

Bill Stewart, Treasurer

Bill Stewart has served as the Treasurer of John Knox Church for over a decade. Bill works full time at the CPA firm NMS, Inc., in Twinsburg.

Bill also serves the church as an Usher, Greeter, Assistant in Worship and more! He is also found helping out many committees during social and service events.

Terry Shubeck, Head Custodian

Terry Shubeck has been serving John Knox Church since 2016. He can be found doing a multitude of tasks around the church: changing light bulbs, setting up for events, breaking down events, and coordinating projects with the Property and Planning Committee.

Lou Will
Josh Schibley

Rev. Lou Will, Parish Associate (Currently serving at Grace Presbyterian Church in Lakewood)

Lou served at Faith Presbyterian Church in Lakewood for 27 years until his retirement in April 2013. He has served as Parish Associate at John Knox Presbyterian Church for three years, and very much enjoys leading the Wednesday morning Bible study and learning from all who attend!

He is also currently serving as part-time Covenant Pastor at Grace Presbyterian Church in Lakewood, where the congregation is engaged in a time of discernment/renewal as they move into and consider the church’s future.

Lou’s formal education includes a B.S. from Marietta College and a Masters of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Lou and Sylvia have been married 46 years. Sylvia is a retired graphic designer, and serves as a Deacon at John Knox. Lou continues his avocation of being part of community theater productions, and he and Sylvia enjoy gardening and cooking.
