Pastor’s Note and Intro to Knox News:

Adventuring With God: A Faith That Moves

Think of the last trip you took.

Step 1

Maybe you had a destination in mind. You gathered resources to learn about sites, accommodations, directions, food options, hikes, and insights from fellow travelers.

Step 2

Eventually you set out on your journey. You ventured into new territory; all senses activated. Insights came fast and furious as you navigated new streets, sounds, trails, relationships.

Step 3

Somewhere along the journey you realized that there were things you should have brought and plenty of things you didn’t need. Maybe you go a bit deeper and realize that various anxieties kept you from relaxing and noticing things. Might have been helpful to learn a little more about the history, the language, the cuisine…

These 3 steps correspond to our 3 seasons of Adventuring with God

Step 1 Summer   Isaiah 40:28-31

We will gather strength, insight, and direction from God. We will get fueled by and informed about our relationship with our Creator and experience what it means to wait upon the Lord and have our strength renewed.

Step 2 Fall   Matthew 28:18-20

We are sent, commissioned, and authorized by Jesus. As followers of Jesus, we guide others in how to follow Him. Sometimes we don’t feel up to the task. That’s when we look back to step 1 and recall our need to wait on the One who provides us with strength, insight, and grace.

Step 3 Winter / Spring Ephesians 4:11-16

And along our journey of teaching, helping, and encouraging others, we discover what we need and what we don’t. We start discovering what gifts we’ve got and maybe what baggage we’ve been carrying that can be left behind. We get geared up and better equipped for the ministry entrusted to us.

See you Sunday, June 2, when we begin our year-long Adventure together.
