While hiking Signal Mountain in the Grand Tetons a few weeks back, we seemingly startled a sleeping bison about a hundred yards from us. Our view was blocked by trees, but we heard him roll over in his bed of branches, rise and give a few snorts. Soon we saw him meander over to where our trail would take us and stand right in the middle of it. Not willing to ask him to move, we blazed another trail well around him until we were back on the path to the summit.

Though not prompted by waking bison, it does seem like we’re blazing new trails here at church…
